After losing a heartbreaker last night in Dundas, the Dunlops seemed to be out of energy for this follow up game. The Dunnies needed to win both games in order to assure themselves of a first place finish but it was not to be.

Frank Littlejohn had put the Dunlops up early but it seemed like fatigue had set in shortly afterwards. Mental mistakes led to give aways that led to odd man rushes and goals against the usually resilient Dunnies.

The effects of going with only four blue liners on Friday because the others had various work committments was a factor. These four played their tails off the previous night and had virtually nothing 'left in the tank' 15 hours later. It was a total team let down with many scoring opportunities left unfinished as a mentally tired group saw the McCoys cash in time and time again on errant passes and broken plays.

The one bright light in the scoring department for the Dunlops was team captain Peter MacKellar who netted a hat trick and with those markers increased his lead in the MLH goal scoring derby.

The hometown boys got down by a score of 5-1 by the 2:41 mark of the second period but they clawed their way back to tie the game 5-5 just less than a full period later but Shawn Shewchuck spoiled the comeback 21 seconds later when he put the McCoys up for good with his game winner. A little later Rob DeCiantis and Ryan Healy scored 18 seconds apart to really 'seal the deal' and assure the Dundas squad of a first place finish.

The Dunlops have one more regular season game against Norwood and Dundas faces Orillia in a home and home series before they enter into the double round robin playoff.

These games will commence on Friday February 19th in Dundas. The visiting team playing on this opening night against the Dundas Real McCoys has not yet been determined.
